Ann Croghan- Acrylic

Ann D. Croghan
Studio 15

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri- St. Louis and earned a Masters of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting and drawing from the University of Illinois- Champaign- Urbana. My paintings and drawings have received many awards and honors in local, regional, national, and international juried and invitational exhibitions. Artwork is represented in many corporate and private collections. Currently Art Trends Gallery represents my work.

I have been an art instructor for over twenty three years and currently teach classes out of my studio (15/16) at the Foundry Art Centre and Mondays at ArtMart Studio in Brentwood.

I have also created artwork for corporations on a free-lance basis.

I create beautiful, lyrical, abstract paintings by using transparent layers of colors that develop intriguing depth of surface. My watercolors, acrylics, pastels and drawings reflect my spirituality and represent both romantic and sublime themes such as joy, peace, divine grace and hope. Viewers of my work describe it as ethereal and emotionally evocative.

I layer many veils of color, enticing the viewer to search beyond the surface into rich shades below. The deeper the viewers penetrate these veils of color, the more they will see the light emanate from within the painting. Drawings reflect my spirituality and represent both romantic and sublime themes such as joy, peace, divine grace and hope.

From my studio I conduct painting and drawing classes, individually guiding students of all levels to develop and expand their creative expression. I instruct student artists using their strengths and abilities in watercolor, oil, acrylic and drawing to reach their creative potential. Strong emphasis is given to color theory, paint mixing, application, texture and artistic perception.

The Spring Semester starts March 26, 2013. These classes run from March to May.
They meet once a week for three hours for ten weeks.
