Laura Lebeda

Laura Lebeda (Morris) worked as a graphic designer over 20 years for a world-wide communications corporation. While doing so, she has continued to enjoy and pursue her love of creating fine art, specifically book arts and mixed media. This site represents various forms of that art, specifically bookmaking, assemblage, mixed media and encaustic.

She received her BA in studio art from Webster University and is currently working towards an MA in teaching.

She has exhibited in galleries in the U.S. and has published pieces in "500 Handmade Books" and "Lark Studio Series: Handmade Books" as Laura Morris.

In Spring 2013, Laura Lebeda will become a full time studio artist at The Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, Missouri. This juried art space will allow a wonderful opportunity to create, teach workshops and engage with other artists in the complex.

"My art was originally autobiographical, incorporating found objects or objects from my past to create books and mixed media. Now I am enjoying the process of creating a body of work from a theme, such as a quote or prayer or word that resonates with me.

Creating "stories" from other people's personal items that they want incorporated into a piece is also very enjoyable as comsssioned work.
Telling a story visually is very exciting for me. Also celebrating the beauty around us that is often overlooked.

My most rewarding pieces are a combination of the book form incorporated into an mixed media piece with antique bits and pieces. I truly enjoy when others make a connection to my work and find their 'story' in a piece I've created."
