January 2 - February 21, 2-26
Opening Reception January 2, 5-8pm
Interdisciplinary artist Chris Wubbena presents an expansive exhibition of his work created over a span of nearly thirty years, including large-scale metal fabricated sculptures, mixed media and found object sculptures, and never-before-seen cinema pieces.
In Gallery I, Wubbena’s small-scale sculpture series, titled in the midst of things, dives into wandering storylines and intertextual interpretations. The viewer is invited to lose oneself within the eclectic and intimate objects, multimedia spaces, found materials, and shifting forms to find crossroads of experiences and worlds within worlds.
The large-scale sculptures on view in Gallery II span Wubbena’s thirty year career in metal working, featuring ten-foot-tall sculptures alongside smaller pedestal and wall sculptures. These artworks are inspired by classical figurative sculpture, as well as geologic and Neolithic rock formations.
Gallery III hosts newly constructed cinema installations. Utilizing both negative and positive space, the viewer can engage with short film projections.
