Get ready to go wild with your creativity! This week, campers will explore the untamed beauty of the animal kingdom. Using a variety of art materials and techniques, campers will draw, paint, and sculpt animals in bold and imaginative ways. Whether realistic or fantastical, every creature comes to life as campers unleash their artistic instincts and embrace their wild side!
Monthly on Wednesdays: January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8 | 6 - 8 pm | $15 per session
The Foundry Art Centre is offering an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. The Foundry will provide a model for 2 hours during which participants can practice their figure drawing at their own pace, work on incorporating a figure into an existing piece, or however they’d like to use their time. Foundry staff members – who are also practicing artists – will facilitate the session. Each session will include a series of short poses (1 – 5 min) as well as some longer poses (10 – 20min). This class is for adult students (ages 21+). Space is limited and registration is required. It is recommend that participants bring tools and surfaces of their choice to the session. In this week of art camp, campers will explore myths from around the world and use their imagination to create colorful illustrations, magical scenes, and fantastical characters using markers, paints, and clay. From dragons to fairies, campers will learn fun techniques to bring their magical visions to life on paper. Get ready to let your creativity soar in a week full of enchantment and artistic adventure!

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to dig in! This week, campers will explore the endless possibilities of clay — from hand-built sculptures to imaginative pottery. We’ll shape, sculpt, and decorate our creations, learning fun techniques along the way. Whether it’s a whimsical creature, a functional piece, or an abstract design, every project will be one-of-a-kind. By the end of the week, campers will have a collection of clay masterpieces to treasure for years to come!
This FREE festival features interactive art projects for all ages, a print market, food trucks, beer booths, live music, heavy machinery, and steamroller printing.
The Foundry’s Block Party centers on a unique and over-the-top method of printmaking, using a STEAMROLLER! Large-scale images created by regional artists are carved on large woodblocks. Kansas City-based Twin Hound Print Shop and their team of inkers roll ink onto these blocks, canvas is laid on top, and then the whole thing is run over with a steamroller – squishing the ink from the woodblock to the sheet. These fantastic prints will be taken into the Foundry’s Grand Hall to dry on display.
In addition to the steamroller prints, the Foundry’s Block Party features an interactive, heavy machinery display in the Foundry’s parking lot, where families can interact with the St. Charles Public Works Department and more. The Foundry will also host live music and food & drinks throughout the day. Visitors are invited to visit artist and sponsor booths, print demonstrations, free art activities for all ages, and of course, to view all of the prints created throughout the day.

This week, we’re serving up a menu of creativity! Campers will explore the delicious world of food as inspiration for their art, from colorful fruit still life to funky food collages. Using a variety of materials and techniques, we’ll create artwork that looks almost good enough to eat (but we’ll save the real snacks for break time!). Get ready for a week bursting with color! Campers will explore the exciting world of the color wheel, experiment with mixing paints, create bold and beautiful artworks, and learn how colors work together to tell a story. From vibrant rainbows to subtle shades, we’ll play with every hue under the sun. To top it all off, each camper will tie-dye their very own camp T-shirt — a wearable, colorful work of art to remember the week by!

Hip Hop dance class is coming to the Foundry Art Centre! Bring a friend and learn the art of Hip Hop Dance with Tyrus Watson! With over 15 years of experience, Tyrus is a versatile dancer, choreographer, and instructor. His career has included choreographing for artists like Chingy, competing on major platforms like So You Think You Can Dance, and performing in live shows. As an instructor, he's dedicated to sharing his passion and expertise with the next generation of dancers. This class is for all skill levels and is available for adult students 18+.

Clay Together invites little hands and their grown-up sidekicks to spin, shape, and create together! Designed for children ages 3 & up and their parent or caregiver, this playful pottery wheel class offers a fun introduction to clay, creativity, and collaboration. Looking for a fun and creative night out? Join Christine Tavares at the Foundry Art Centre during First Fridays for Love @ First Throw… a playful clay experience in our community clay classroom.
Whether you're bringing a partner or a friend, you’ll have a chance to get your hands dirty, try the pottery wheel, and create something uniquely yours. No experience necessary, just bring your sense of adventure! Students will typically complete 2 pieces to fire (one for each of you). You pick your colors, and Christine will glaze it for you. Pottery is usually ready for pick-up in 2 weeks but sometimes it takes a little longer. This class is for adult students (ages 18+) with little to no experience in ceramics. Come play in the mud at the Foundry Art Centre as you create your own ceramic serving piece! Whether it be a wine chiller, a charcuterie or cutting board, or large tray, Foundry Education Coordinator Christine Tavares will make you the star of any social occasion. You’ll roll up your sleeves and get dirty with clay as you learn the process of hand building with clay slabs. You pick the color, and Christine will glaze your vase for you. Your fired and finished serving piece will be ready for pick-up two to three weeks after the workshop. This class is for adult students (ages 18+) of all skill levels. All supplies provided. Back by popular demand, the Foundry Art Centre Art Club is an opportunity for kids to explore, invent, experiment and CREATE! Celebrate Earth Day and learn the art of botanical bas-relief casting with botanical artist Ramona Kristmann! Bas-relief casting is a simple and rewarding way to capture the ephemeral beauty of nature in a lasting art form. No artistic experience is necessary! You’ll leave this workshop with a botanical casting and ideas how to dry-cure and finish your piece at home. Sign-up with a friend or come make some new friends.
