ADULT WORKSHOPS

Join the Foundry Art Centre for an evening of grown-up fun! Bring a date, a friend, bring any adult you want. No art skills needed, but you can flex those social muscles as you pick up a new creative skill. 21+ only, please.

Stitch ‘n Bitch with us during the Foundry’s new FREE fiber crafts club. All fiber crafts are welcome, from knitting, to embroidery, to crochet and beyond. Whether it’s your first time trying it, or you’re a pro. This is not a fibers class, but crafters are welcome to help each other out. Vibe with us as we craft, and… bitch. BYO snacks & supplies. Figure Drawing
Monthly on Wednesdays: December 4, January 8, February 12 rescheduled to February 19, March 12, and April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13 | 6 - 8 pm | $15 per session

The Foundry Art Centre is offering an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. The Foundry will provide a model for 2 hours during which participants can practice their figure drawing at their own pace, work on incorporating a figure into an existing piece, or however they’d like to use their time. Foundry staff members – who are also practicing artists – will facilitate the session. Each session will include a series of short poses (1 – 5 min) as well as some longer poses (10 – 20min).  It is recommended that participants bring tools and surfaces of their choice to the session.

Circular Weaving Workshop with artist Dee Levang
Saturday, May 31 | 12 pm to 4 pm | $75 

Come play with fiber, texture and color with fiber artist Dee Levang! Choose a curated pack of fibers and learn essential tapestry stitches to create a unique wall hanging. A pre-warped embroidery hoop and all supplies will be included. Paint and Plant with Beena McMahan
Friday, July 11| 1:30 am to 2 pm | $60

Painting and plants?  You’ve hit the jackpot of workshops at the Foundry Art Centre!  Join artist Beena McMahan as she guides you in creating your very own unique succulent painting.  Not only will Beena break the painting down into easy-to-follow-steps while sharing pro-artist tips throughout the session, she will also guide you in learning how to paint from life.   Each registrant will receive a succulent to paint from (and take home).  No experience required. Intro to Painting with Oil and Cold Wax with Mark Witzling
Saturday, July 26 | 10 am to 4 pm | $150

Explore the excitement and experimentation of painting with oil and cold wax medium!  Award winning artist Mark Witzling will introduce you to this creative painting process and the variety of the tools, surfaces, and techniques used to create fun, expressive and colorful works of art. Loosen up, explore your creativity, and enjoy this fun hands-on experience!  There will be plenty of hands-on painting time, instructor demos, and one-on-one instructor time. Learn to bring compositions to life!  No experience required. Just bring yourself, a friend or two, and your creativity!  Students may want to bring a light lunch or snack.  If you need accommodations for this program, please contact the Foundry as soon as you are able.

Mark Witzling is an accomplished award-winning abstract oil and cold wax painter. His art is in the collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe and private collections in the US, Europe and Asia. His work appears in the “bible” of the medium – Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts, Conversations (Crowell & McLaughlin), and Artfolio: A Curated Collection of the World’s Most Exciting Artists.  In addition to teaching workshops, he has participated in the artist residency program at Chateau Orquevaux (France) and is a two-time recipient of the Diderot Grant.  He has judged numerous art fairs and currently serves on the Board of Hope Creates and the Delmar Maker District. Mark has served as Executive Director of Craft Alliance in St. Louis and holds degrees from Macalester College and Boston University.

Limited seats available and advanced registration required so sign up today to secure your creative seat. The Foundry Art Centre does not make up or refund classes if a student misses a class.
