Intro to Painting with Oil and Cold Wax with Mark Witzling
Saturday, July 26 | 10 am to 4 pm | $150
Explore the excitement and experimentation of painting with oil and cold wax medium! Award winning artist Mark Witzling will introduce you to this creative painting process and the variety of the tools, surfaces, and techniques used to create fun, expressive and colorful works of art. Loosen up, explore your creativity, and enjoy this fun hands-on experience! There will be plenty of hands-on painting time, instructor demos, and one-on-one instructor time. Learn to bring compositions to life! No experience required. Just bring yourself, a friend or two, and your creativity! Students may want to bring a light lunch or snack. Mark Witzling is an accomplished award-winning abstract oil and cold wax painter. His art is in the collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe and private collections in the US, Europe and Asia. His work appears in the “bible” of the medium – Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts, Conversations (Crowell & McLaughlin), and Artfolio: A Curated Collection of the World’s Most Exciting Artists. In addition to teaching workshops, he has participated in the artist residency program at Chateau Orquevaux (France) and is a two-time recipient of the Diderot Grant. He has judged numerous art fairs and currently serves on the Board of Hope Creates and the Delmar Maker District. Mark has served as Executive Director of Craft Alliance in St. Louis and holds degrees from Macalester College and Boston University.
Figure Drawing
Monthly on Wednesdays: July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, and December 10 | 6 - 8 pm | $15 per session
The Foundry Art Centre is offering an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. The Foundry will provide a model for 2 hours during which participants can practice their figure drawing at their own pace, work on incorporating a figure into an existing piece, or however they’d like to use their time. Foundry staff members – who are also practicing artists – will facilitate the session. Each session will include a series of short poses (1 – 5 min) as well as some longer poses (10 – 20min). This class is for adult students (ages 21+). Space is limited and registration is required. It is recommend that participants bring tools and surfaces of their choice to the session.. Gold Stacker Ring Workshop with Shanika Hartrum

Ready to dip your toes into the shiny world of goldsmithing? This beginner-friendly workshop is the perfect place to start! Artist Shanika Hartrum from Moon.u.mental Jewelry will lead you in the creation of your very own custom set of gold-filled stacker rings. No experience necessary! Students can choose to make a personalized set of 2-3 stunning gold-filled rings to mix, match, or stack high and proud! Shanika will guide students through the essential techniques of working with gold-filled metal such as: measuring & shaping, filing & polishing, using a torch to solder, and pro finishing techniques. This class is open to students ages 16+. All supplies provided, just bring yourself, a friend or two, and your creativity! Whisper of Summer: A Seasonal Floral Workshop

Summer is almost over so why not savor it a bit longer by creating your very own beautiful fresh floral arrangement! Christine Laurentius from Blushing Bloom Designs will lead you step-by-step in designing a beautiful fresh end-of-summer arrangement. You will walk away with floral arranging tips, some new friends, and a beautiful arrangement to brighten your space! We will provide all of the flowers, greenery, and a vessel. Botanical Casting with Ramona Kristmann
Wednesday, October 8 | 5:30 to 8 pm | $50
Learn the art of botanical bas-relief casting with botanical artist Ramona Kristmann! Bas-relief casting is a simple and rewarding way to capture the ephemeral beauty of nature in a lasting art form. No artistic experience is necessary! You’ll leave this workshop with a botanical casting and ideas how to dry-cure and finish your piece at home. Sign-up with a friend or come make some new friends. Sculptural Papermaking with Shannon Brock of Gaptoothed Studio
Saturday, October 25th | 1-4 pm | $65
Take handmade paper from fiber to the 3-dimensional! During this workshop, artist Shannon Brock will lead participants in forming a small sculptural bowl or rock using the paper from recycled linen fabric pulp. Using an overlapping technique, students will apply torn pieces of newly formed paper to an armature. Directions will be given for separating the form from the armature later, once the drying stage is complete. Basic pulp preparation, sheet forming, and armature building will be reviewed. Shannon Brock is a hand papermaker, an artist, and Founder of Gaptoothed Studio. In her work, Shannon tells stories from her childhood growing up in rural Missouri and explores the dynamics of family. She has traveled nationally and internationally teaching hand papermaking techniques and establishing paper studios, as well as exhibiting her paper works. Brock received her BFA in Fiber from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1995. She has served on several boards including Hand Papermaking Magazine and North American Hand Papermakers (formerly Friends of Dard Hunter). Shannon is a current member of The Pulparazzi, a group of exhibiting hand papermakers focusing on pulp painting. Her work can be found in many personal collections and museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and Yale University Art Gallery in CT.
Punch Needle with Dee Levang
Saturday, November 8 | 1 to 4 pm | $75
Join artist Dee Levang to learn everything you need to know to create a punch needle project. In this comprehensive 3-hour workshop, you will learn all the skills required to make a punch needle artwork from start to finish. Through the process of punching a "mug rug" coaster, you'll pick up a whole bunch of tips and tricks along the way. This class is suitable for total beginners, as well as those who have tried punch needle before but are looking for more in-depth guidance on technique. You'll come away from this class with a small art piece or coaster in a design of your choice -- and the knowledge to create future pieces of any size! Dee Levang is an American multidisciplinary visual artist working in fiber, encaustic, oil and cold wax, and water-soluble media. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, she currently resides and works in St. Louis, Missouri. She studied graphic design at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). As a teaching artist, she teaches classes and workshops both locally and regionally, including at Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louis, St. Louis Artists' Guild, St. Louis Community College, and the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles.
An alumnus of the Saint Louis Art Fair’s Emerging Artists as Entrepreneurs program, Levang has participated in local juried art fairs and events including Schlafly's Art Outside, Cherokee Street Print Bazaar, Maplewood's Let Them Eat Art, Queeny Park Art Fair, and Wall Ball live painting fundraiser

An Adult Jewelry-Making Class with Serious Throwback Vibes

Ready to turn your inner 8-year-old’s favorite craft into your most iconic accessory? Join us for this quirky, colorful, and creatively charged jewelry-making class where Shrinky Dinks get a glow-up for grown-ups. In this ultra-fun, hands-on workshop, artist Christy Brinkman will help you design, draw, and shrink your own custom artwork to create one-of-a-kind earrings from recyclable plastics. Think statement pieces, retro flair, and wearable art that screams "I made this and yes, I AM amazing." Come get crafty, make some shiny new friends, and leave with jewelry that’s 100% you. Instructor Christy Brinkman-Robertson is a jewelry maker that's passionate about reusing and repurposing items, specializing in transforming everyday materials into one-of-a-kind earrings and necklaces. She has been making jewelry since 2012 and has put her studio art degree to use in this work, starting Lovely Upcycled Things, a line of jewelry. You can view this work at lovelyupcycledthings.com, on instagram @lovelyupcycledthings, and some work is currently being sold in the Foundry Art Centre gift shop. She is based out of Terre Haute, Indiana, where she also works as the art curator for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's art collection. She loves to be surrounded by arts and crafts in every aspect of life!
Fall Floral Arranging at the Foundry

Join us at the Foundry Art Centre for a fun evening of floral arranging.
