Come play in the mud at the Foundry Art Centre! In this workshop you’ll create your own coil built vessel. Making pottery out of coils of clay is as old as, well, pottery itself, some date back 15,000 years. Contemporary ceramic artists use coils - basically ropes of clay - to create pots without working on the pottery wheel. The coils can be left as a visible textural element, or smoothed out, or a combination of both. Join Foundry Education Coordinator Christine Tavares as she leads you through the process of building a beautiful, vase, bowl, or sculpture. Your fired and finished vessel will be ready for pick-up two to three weeks after the workshop.
