THE EXHIBITION

This juried exhibition will focus on how photography can be pushed to its fullest potential. Submitted works do not have to be purely photography but can be mixed media. A photographic element must be present for the work to be considered.

AWARDS

[1] "Going Solo " Exhibition

Seth Cook, Of Flesh and Oil

The first question I have when I see this piece is “what am I looking at?” and not how was it made, which makes it really successful in my eyes. Every time I look at this piece, I see something new and exciting.  It both reveals and conceals at the same time by allowing the viewer a glimpse into a portal inside the image but only showing us a tiny part. We vaguely see another material with an image through the opening that draws us in and keeps us asking questions.”

[2] $150 Juror's Choice Awards

Trula Blize, Candace

“This video is mesmerizing as it takes us on a journey through something. I’m not quite sure what I am looking at so I’m left asking questions without definitive answers. I’m drawn into the bits that are blurry and those that are focused and I feel like I’m an explorer eagerly investigating a new place and captivated by what I see. The monochromatic nature and ambiguity of scale are very enticing capturing my attention through many viewings. “

Taehee Kim, The Darkness

“This image has many layers and I enjoy sifting through them paying attention to the various details, like the dot pattern in the background or the frog on top of the text in the foreground. It seems like the longer I stare at it, the more information is revealed allowing me an insight into the person depicted here. I’m attracted to the visually appealing composition and the stunning color palette that is aesthetically pleasing and captivating.”

[1] Community Choice Award
