In today’s fast-paced world of hustle and bustle, it’s easy to get caught up in the serious and mundane tasks of life. Living in a modern society, we often focus on the job at hand, leaving little time in our day for the lighter side of things. With this whimsical exhibition, visitors are invited to pause for a moment and forget about the “rat race.”
This exhibition of recent works draws from the creativity of fifteen artists who have participated in juried exhibitions offered by the Foundry Art Centre in the past three years. The artists capture in these three dimensional works, the essence of playfulness and the delight of the unexpected.
From the gentle composure of Wyn Flo’s Alice, to the abstracted beauty of Martin Linson’s Bronze Garden, the artwork in this gallery highlights the mediums of clay, paper, fiber, glass and metal.
The featured regional artists are Lisa Becker, J. Penney Burton, Elizabeth Conn, Claire Frandsen, M.J. Goerke, Steve Jones, Laura Lebeda, Martin Linson, Laura Lloyd, Pat Owoc, Snail Scott and Betty Shew. Wyn Flo, Julie VonDerVellen and Dennis Yuen represent states outside of the greater St. Louis region.
Curated by Angela Fowle, Executive Director of the Foundry Art Centre.
